Baj Breaks Scapula at Gila

Top KBS climber and recent winner of the Tour of Thailand, Andrew Bajadali broke his scapula yesterday at the Tour of Gila. Crashing early in stage one – the Mongolian Road Race – he flies home today to Boulder, Colorado where a doctor will inspect the damage and make recommendations for immediate treatment.

Fresh from victory in the Tour of Thailand the Veulta Ciclista del Uruguay in the same week, the Kelly Benefit Strategies pro team heads to Silver City, New Mexico this week to race the SRAM Tour of the Gila.

Kelly Benefit Strategies Partners with World Bicycle Relief

The Kelly Benefit Strategies (KBS) professional cycling team, already well known for its environmental program, announces today that it has made a commitment to support World Bicycle Relief in its mission to provide bicycles to those in need. World Bicycle Relief supports healthcare, education and economic development programs in underdeveloped regions, creating better access to independence and livelihood through the power of bicycles.

The partnership will see KBS athletes promoting awareness of the organization’s work throughout the 2009 race season and then traveling to Africa after the season ends to witness first-hand the power of bicycle relief.

KBS Wins Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay

Just days after winning the Tour of Thailand last week, the Kelly Benefit Strategies other international squad scored victory this past weekend in Uruguay. The win at Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay makes it two international UCI stage race wins in less than a week for the KBS team that now returns home to race on US soil.

Kelly Benefit Strategies Wins Tour of Thailand

The Kelly Benefit Strategies team continued it's international dominance today, winning the Tour of Thailand in decisive fashion. For the sixth and final stage, a 76km circuit race in Udon Thani, Performance Director Jonas Carney employed the aggressive tactics that have been the team's staple throughout the grueling six day race. Carney sent the team out to the front early and controlled the action for much of the day. Andy Bajadali safely finished the race with the yellow jersey he won from teammate Jacob Erker just one day prior.

Tour of Thailand Stage Five: KBS Keeps Yellow But Switches Riders

The Kelly Benefit Strategies Tour of Thailand squad kept it in the family today, switching the leader's yellow jersey from Jake Erker, who has dominated the race all week, to Andrew "Baj" Bajadali. With one stage left to go tomorrow, April 9, KBS leads on the team GC and has riders in four of the top five positions on the general classification.

Kelly Benefit Strategies Take Yellow Jersey on Two Continents

The Kelly Benefit Strategies pro team, split between Thailand and Uruguay, move into the next stage wearing the yellow jersey on two continents at the same time.

Jake Erker took the leader's jersey in the Tour of Thailand and Reid Mumford in the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay. Kelly Benefit Strategies Goes Multi-Continental in Uruguay, Thailand

Right on the heels of the Kelly Benefit Strategies team's season start at the Redlands Classic, the squad splits this week to tackle two simultaneous races on separate continents. The team will be fielding squads in the 66th Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay (April 3-12) as well as the Maha Chakri Sirindhon's Cup – the "Tour of Thailand" (April 4-9).
