Ryan Anderson Dominates Tour de Delta

KBS achieved big results from their sneaky two man roster this weekend at the Tour de Delta, part of British Columbia's Superweek. Ryan Anderson and fellow Canadian Zach Bell (second runner-up in the Canadian Championship TT race) represented KBS at the three day race, with Anderson taking third in Friday's time trial, winning Saturday's Criterium, and taking second in Sunday's road race to take the top spot overall.

"Last year with Symmetrics we won the overall but I was the workhorse,” said Anderson, a Vancouver native. "This is a new feeling for me. To get the victory and the stage win, it’s a great feeling. I do a lot of work for the team so when I get to win like this it is awesome for me."

The win was made possible by Anderson and Bell's efforts late in Sunday's road race, when a five man attack including New Zealand Olympian Peter Latham (Bissell) and Jim Camut (Land Rover-ORBEA) attempted to put the race out of reach.

"I was definitely worried, we were at 40 kilometres to go and it was about two minutes and I didn't realize they were that far out there,” Anderson said. “So Zach had to calm me down and assure me we could get it back."

After Anderson and Bell finally caught the break, Bissel rider Morgan Schmitt took off up the courses largest hill at the start of the bell lap. Anderson had to stay with the rider if he wanted a chance at the overall podium.

"We knew it was going to be fast," said Anderson, who also won Top Young Rider. "I just had to bury myself to stay on his wheel."

Anderson won the GC with an overall time 4:41:08, 4.66 seconds ahead of runner up Andrew Pinfold (Ouch). Bell ended up 5th overall after his crucial support riding. The win is this year's biggest for Anderson's, who also finished second at the recent Canadian Championship U23 time trial.
