Scott Zwizanski Wins Tour de Beauce
In another fantastic effort during a tough, uphill circuit race in downtown Saint-Georges, Scott Zwizanski held onto the yellow jersey and became the GC champion of the 2009 Tour De Beauce. The 12 loop, 130 km race featured a grueling climb on each lap directly before the finish line. Zwiz's main rivals for the GC crown, Darwin Atapuma and Sergio Luis Henao of the Columbian national team, did not make things easy for the KBS squad, attacking from the gun and staying persistent throughout the race.
In the biggest threat of the day to the KBS's eventual victory, the two Columbians were part of a nine man break on lap 8 and eventually gained thirty seconds on the field. Recognizing the threat to Scott's lead, the whole KBS squad worked to fold this break and succeeded three laps from the finish. And that, as they say, was that. A few more breaks happened in the closing laps but KBS was able to squash the main threat.
